Who We Are and What We Do

Hi this is Mike, and I wanted to share with you a little about myself and how Mike and The Movers came about.  So if you read my homepage you already know that I have been serving clients just like you since 1995 all around the bay area and beyond. I’d like to tell you a little more…

I got started in the moving business back in 1984 in a suburban Midwestern town just outside St. Louis, MO.  My Father, my uncle and my grandfather were involved in the moving business since the early 1960’s and by the time I reached my teenage years in the early 1980’s I became a mover as well.  After nearly ten years of working on the trucks and graduating to sales and administration I later moved to California in 1992 to attend college and serve with the United States Navy until 1995 when I found myself back in the moving business. When I wasn't working at my Navy desk, in class, studying for an exam or putting together a term paper I some how found the time to work with a couple of different bay area moving companies.  With one year left of shore duty at Naval Station Treasure Island I began my first California Moving and Storage operation.

During my tenure as an Owner Operator from 1995 – 2008 I maintained a company of more than 20 employees, agents and independently licensed movers which by January of 2000 had blossomed into a worldwide moving corporation composed of 5 companies we had purchased and/or acquired through mergers and acquisitions since 1995.  Our corporation had authorities and licenses granted by the Public Utilities Commission, The Federal Maritime Commission, as well as the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration and maintained a good relationship with the public throughout its existence.  When we closed the doors to our 14,000 square foot northern California headquarters in January of 2008, I took a year off from the moving business and had lots of time to heal and reflect.

I am very fortunate today and grateful to all of the friends, clients and colleagues I have met and done business with over the years here in the bay area.  Through these relationships I was not only able to provide a destination for many of our former employees, but I also enjoy rock solid relationships with the very best movers in the bay area which now allow me to continue working in the industry I was born in.

Today, serving in an entirely different capacity.  I provide customer service support, logistic coordination, lead generation and business development services for some of the most unrecognized professional movers around.

The Movers provide local commercial moving and office moving, home delivery services, packing crating and debris removal.  Household goods moves from point to point within California are provided strictly by CPUC licensed household goods movers that I have known and trusted for years.  As time goes on, we plan to add new movers to our network, however at this point, I know each and everyone of them personally and consider them my friends.  All moving operations are insured and adhere to the strict guidelines prescribed by the CPUC.  For more information, please Contact Mike

We do not provide interstate relocations or brokerage services, but if you ask me I know the best interstate movers in our area as well as the best international movers for the best price possible and I can help you navigate through those troublesome waters.  In the unlikely event you were to ever have a dispute with a Mover in our network,  I may also act as an advocate on your behalf to ensure your claim is handled promptly and fairly.  Unlike the many "moving broker" and "moving directories" out there I won't just sell your information to multiple moving companies leaving you to fend for yourself to the relentless bombardment of sales people.

Please feel free to call me or email me anytime to talk about moving.  Whether you are moving around the corner across the country or over the oceans I know how to get you there not only by the most affordable means, but also safely and nearly always damage free.  Please don’t take my word for it; let my clients do the talking.  There are many many local references I will provide to you to find out for yourself and bye-the-way people just love us on yelp.com.

We all look forward to hearing from you and always stand proud and ready to be your movers for life.

Kind regards,

Mike and The Movers
